OHCR 8712 and OHCR 8702 work Briar Hill yard in Youngstown Ohio. Brier Hill yard was a former Erie Lackawanna yard located in the north end of Youngstown. It was later Conrail before Ohio Central moved in. The OHCR operates 4 "independent" railroads out of here; The Mahoning Valley Railroad, the Youngstown and Austintown Railroad, the Youngstown Belt Railroad and the Warren and Trumbull Railroad. They use the same crews and locomotives and work multiple lines in a day. All part of G&W's pretend their the little guy bull sh!t. Anyway the title states that these locomotives are doomed. Well that's because G&W lied about on record keeping saying some engines were upgraded so when the EPA found out they took legal action. Now they have to retire 80 locomotives and these are on the list. The EPA mandate has a deadline of 2025 so these old beasts have a little over a year left unless replacements arrive sooner.

The mill adjacent is Vallourec Star, the biggest customer of this railroad. The mill melts scrap with their electric arc and produces steel pipe. The mill has several plant switchers leased from LTEX. The slag is hauled by a rubber tired vehicle which makes an appearance in this video. The OHCR crew grouped up some cars for CSX and then shoved them to interchange.
