Dragging the Driveway with a Homemade Drag Grader - Fill Potholes

Follow
DIY With A Guy In The Chair

Today we are using our homemade driveway drag or raker, whatever you want to call it:)
We got the idea off multiple YouTube videos on how to make it and then we did some hunting around for cheap materials to make this.
My son John and I made this a couple of years ago and it works great, and the best thing is that our small rider can pull it without any problems.
It works best if you wait until after a heavy rain has hit, it will take about an hour to do our size driveway and it depends upon how many holes and ruts you have to fill.
We try to do our driveway twice a year or more if new potholes show up. The basic parts list is below but the more you can hunt around for the items the more you will save.

Basic List Of Items:

Bed Frame Used purchased at a donation place for like $5.00
Tow Chain Anything you might have lying around or even cable. 10+ feet
Snap Hook 3"
Grade 8 Bolts 15 of them or more if you wish, 3/8" or bigger.
Nuts 15 of them for above bolts
Carriage Bolts 4 at lease, 1" long with nuts.
Threaded Rod 24" by 3/8" with washers and wingnuts
2x6x20" board
Blocks 2 or anything heavy to put inside drag.

You could just bolt the whole thing together without welding but it's stronger if you weld all bolts and corners, we used our mig welder.
You will have to custom fit the size depending upon what you have lying around and the size of your machine pulling it.

Our drag cost us about $25 to $30 because we had most of the materials laying around already.

This works great at reconditioning your gravel driveway, it brings the gravel back up to the surface, save money by not spending a small fortune having road gravel hauled to your driveway every couple of years.

It Works!
