Mack is a 4 year old who's been a pasture pet and is in to get a few fundamentals. He's kind and willing. I don't believe in creating stress when we ask a horse to do something new. All I do is give their movement some direction and intention when they feel the need to move. It doesn't take long, at all, for them to stand perfectly still for whatever it is. I offer a reward (treat) at moments when I feel they are really relaxed and doing what I am asking. It's also helpful to go slow! I don't need to trim the whole hoof before I give him a break from holding the foot up. His capacity for holding it there longer will come with practice. #honestlyhorses #hooftrimming #horsetraining
