Title: Preparing the Physician Workforce to Provide High Quality Care for Patients with Disabilities: Current Landscape and Leading Edges in Disability Education within Undergraduate Medical Education

Bio: Dr. Dorothy Tolchin is the Director of Disability and AntiAbleism Education at Harvard Medical School, bringing together a range of stakeholders to design, implement, and assess focused education for medical students in the principles and practice of accessible, equitable healthcare for individuals with disabilities of all types. Dr. Tolchin presents locally, nationally, and internationally about comprehensive care for individuals with disabilities, the landscape of disability education in undergraduate and graduate medical education, and the development of disability curricula and inclusive learning environments. Dr. Tolchin is a fellow of the Harvard Law School Project on Disability and teaches disability ethics at the HMS Center for Bioethics. She especially enjoys mentoring students. Dr. Tolchin heads PM&R advising at Harvard Medical School and is founding and current faculty advisor for two student groups on campus focused on disability advocacy. Dr. Tolchin earned her AB summa cum laude, EdM, and MD from Harvard.
