In which I learn the basics of Maori short poi dance technique! This is a project years in the makingI've wanted to learn the more traditional form of poi and it's relationship to Kapa Haka and finally found a local friend who could teach me a lesson on the basics. I found that there are significant differences between the traditional style of short poi and the contemporary version of poi spinning and flow that we practice throughout most of the world. Come on a journey with me to learn more about these techniques and the cultural heritage around them!
