Day 2 of driving to the Arctic Ocean on the Dalton Highway. We start the day in Coldfoot Alaska where we order our Arctic Shuttle to be able to see and get in the Arctic Ocean in Prudhoe Bay. Coldfoot has the last gas station before Prudhoe Bay which is crazy because it is only halfway to Prudhoe Bay. That's a long way with no services!
We stop by the beautiful Sukakpak mountain as we enter the Brooks Range of Alaskan mountains. Brooks Range was STUNNING! Here is where we drive the Atigun Pass, the highest mountain pass in Alaska. This is also where we crossed the Continental Divide. Rivers south of here flow to the Pacific Ocean and Bering Sea. Rivers north of here flow to the Arctic Ocean.
After the incredible Brooks Range, the landscape changes into tundra. Nothing else except open tundra and the pipeline until Deadhorse. And tons of mosquitos of course! We made it to Deadhorse! We have an Arctic Shuttle scheduled for 3:30pm and that will be in the next episode.
