Deep in the canyon after long, winding turns, radio signals no longer reached the road. Layers of snow on foothills close to the first stopping point appeared built up over time and seemingly had been refreshed recently. Wandering towards the woods, cold air served as a subtle reminder to achieve the desired goal before frost could bite. For a moment, snow flakes started to fall from branches nearby. A bird hopped from one branch to another before going airborne. Taking flight, it spread bright wings in contrast to grey tones of the natural background. Glimpses of sunshine were rare and celebrated throughout the forest journey. When the sky would open up, magnificent glimmers of light reflected on the ground and everywhere else covered with frost. Prior to launch, nothing in particular could be heard but the forest setting was not silent. Nature sounds around snow covered settings can be hard to describe. There, where launching the drone wouldn’t disturb, was the perfect place to begin. Stunning visual mountain angles appeared more beautiful from the sky. Directly above and within several paces, the small craft made loud buzzing noises. Until a short distance away, it could have been quiet dancing in the air.
