For six months, a team of journalists followed police and soldiers in their daily fight against cocaine trafficking. Several hundred tonnes of cocaine entered Europe in 2006, ten times more than ten years ago, according to police figures. White powder is no longer reserved for trendy circles: half of the consumers arrested two years ago were workers, employees or students. The Colombian cartels, which control most of the market, have made the old continent their new target because in the United States, the fight against cocaine trafficking makes the American market very difficult to penetrate. No wonder the police made the largest seizure in French history: more than four tons of pure cocaine.
