Snapping of the biceps femoris tendon over the fibular head is an uncommon condition. Reported causes include idiopathic, abnormal biceps femoris tendon insertions, abnormal fibular head morphology or direct trauma to the biceps femoris tendon insertion sites.
This 38 year old patient was asymptomatic and required no treatment.
In symptomatic patients surgical options include partial release of the superior aspect of the tendon or reattachment of the biceps femoris tendon.
