Today we're looking at the early development history of Supermarine Aviation. Originally formed as PembertonBilling Ltd, then becoming Supermarine in 1916, the company made some unique and pioneering aircraft during WW1 and the interwar period. The company set up one of the first commercial routes for flying boats, and distinguished itself in air races such as the Schneider Cup (a topic we will cover later), but this is often overshadowed due to the overwhelming success of the Spitfire in WW2.
