Retro Renew Episode Description: Stepbystep instructions on how to install a FunnyPlaying IPS kit into a Game Boy Advance SP to build the ULTIMATE handheld console!

In today’s episode of Retro Renew, we’re going to install a FunnyPlaying IPS screen into a Japanese Imported Game Boy Advance SP AGS001. As you may or may not know, the AGS001 has a front lit LCD which leaves a lot to be desired. Nintendo later fixed this issue with the release of the AGS101 model GBA SP. Despite this, sourcing an AGS101 console or AGS101 LCD are both expensive endeavors. The IPS kit from FunnyPlaying is a great alternative to the AGS101. To help with the install, I’ll be using a pretrimmed GBA SP shell from Retro Modding. I highly recommend using a pretrimmed shell to do this mod as it will make the whole install significantly easier. So sit back, relax and enjoy the mod!
