Easy Bebop Scale Fingerings for Jazz Guitar: the best phrasing for chromaticism and flow in jazz

This jazz guitar trick allows you to keep the fingerings exactly the same over several octaves (in many registers), and thus relies less on actual memorization and more on muscle memory.

After describing the basic F7 'bebop scale trick' (start with the pinky!!!), we'll check out a few interesting applications modes from both melodic minor and harmonic minor:

F7(b13): the fifth mode of Bb melodic minor

F7(b9 b13): the fifth mode of Bb harmonic minor, also referred to as "a harmonic minor of destination"

(note: this is the chord that is "heard" when you see an F7#5 on a chord sheet ... it is very often simply F7b13 in disguise)

F7alt: last but not least, the full altered dominant scale, as a bebop passing tone, easy, diagonal fingering scale. This is the 7th mode of Gb melodic minor.
