Using the new Source Transitions in OBS Studio 27, it is easy to create lower thirds without the need for thirdparty addons.
I previously used a dock that provides more control, but can be quiet finicky to use.

NOTE: Even though I applied the show/hide transitions to the group (to keep the video short and simple), you can selectively apply show/hide transitions to individual elements (color source, text1, and text2) to create complex in/out transitions.
