This is how to fix your Swagtron Swagger 5 escooter charging problem.

It is infact actually a fix on the braking safety feature and not really a charging issue. It appears to be a charging issue as when you experience the brake problem the error code delivery looks exactly like a low battery warning.

I have found a few ways to fix it but this seems to be the easiest method, requires only basic tools, and is a permanent fix.

The other 2 methods are tightening the post that holds the brake lever (reducing play in the hinge) or sliding a piece of rubber tubing over the button (this substantially increases gripbut not many people have the perfect size tubing just laying around :) ).

Overall I should probably make a review on the Swagger5 as it is a really smooth riding scooter with good speed (19MPH) and acceptable range (~7 miles ON GEAR 3, MORE ON GEAR 2). I have only ridden twice at the time of this posting but really enjoy it. It is a substantial upgrade over my older Swagtron scooter (which is ~3 years old + hard tires = less smooth ride)
