Here's a easy tip on how to keep rodents, mice & rats out of your engine bay. To rodent proof your engine the easy way. First you remove the nest and then detail the engine. Using peppermint oil in a spray bottle and applied to the engine compartment, rodents and most specifically rats are repelled by the smell and will not return. It seems like every other car that comes into our shop has signs of rodents. If they continue to come in your engine bay they could potentially do more and more damage to your car. I have worked on cars most my life and I have seen a lot more rodent damage to cars lately. New cars now a days have wiring in them that's soy based and it attracts them it seems. Usually the first thing rodents go for is the wiring harness causing damage and costing money in repair bills.
