EASY Way to Paint Autumn Trees Pastel Painting Tutorial

Learn to paint trees from the inside out!

In this beginner friendly tutorial, I will share my easy technique for painting autumn trees.
1. Start with darkest value and create the general form of the tree
2. Add gestural trunk and branches
3. Combine another dark value to give color interest
4. Layer a middle value color a rich orangered will work for both red autumn trees and yellow autumn trees
5. Gradually begin adding lighter values (and brighter colors) to areas of tree where the sun would be shining
6. Some middle value greens are often good to lay down before final lightest values.
7. Add your final "brights / lightest values" either bright red, oranges, or yellows.
8. Add some color punch! Often purples make a nice color complement to autumn trees. Just sneak some in towards inner branches and at the base.

REMEMBER ... *Don't paint leaves, but just suggestions with scumbling gestural mark making.
