High School Chemistry

The classic school chemistry experiment comparing the rate of reaction of small and large marble chips with dilute hydrochloric acid.

Approximately 20g of marble chips were reacted with 25ml hydrochloric acid 2M on a mass balance.

Two experiments were set up side by side, one with small and one with larger marble chips.

Mass loss readings for each experiment can be recorded from the stop watch in the movie.

A table of results showing mass loss for the two experiments can then be derived and graphs plotted for mass loss against time.
