EG4 6000xp vs Central Air Conditioner Ultimate Solar Inverter Challenge!

Follow
Two Steps from Off-Grid

In our continuing quest for energy independence and the ability to live comfortably with or without grid power, we decided to expand our solar system using the EG4 6000xp inverter. We designed a twounit system in parallel, but before we startup the second inverter, I was curious whether a single inverter could run our entire home.

Our home is about 2,000sf and we run everything on electric except for our water heater, dryer and stove, which are on propane. I wanted to see if a single 6000xp could run our entire home plus our 3 tons of air conditioning.

The inverter was wired into our main service panel using an interlock kit and separate breaker for the solar power. No grid power is yet hooked up to the inverter, only solar. So we can switch between grid or solar!

The results of this experiment shocked me and was not at all what I expected!!

Here is the gear I use or recommend:

EG4 6000xp Off Grid Inverter
Here is the 6000 watt, split phase, 240v, solar charger inverter I purchased and use everyday in my home.

EG4 3000 EHV offgrid inverter
This is the 120v AlO solar charge controller/inverter/battery charger that I purchased to build my “DIY CheapoFlow 3000”. I still use it regularly as a chargeverter. It’s bulletproof and you can combine 2 and get 240v Power!

LifePower4 5.12 kW 48v Server Rack Battery
I purchased 6 of these to run my home off grid. More than a year later not one hiccup from any of them. I love them like my kids!

Six LifePower4 48v Server Rack Batteries in a locking steel case!
If you like to buy once and cry once, your crying will be over quickly once this ESS gets connected and powering your entire home with 30.72 kWh of power storage! If you think you’ll ever need more than 15kWh of batteries, stop, save up, and buy this set up. You’ll save a ton on shipping $. The Buss Bars alone are worth the price of the cabinet.

Ready to dive into offgrid solar and want a full kit ready to go? I honestly don’t know how you can get your home up and powered with offgrid solar any cheaper than buying this kit. If I’m wrong, please show me a better deal for 6000 240AC watts, 7200kW solar PV and 14.3 kWh battery storage.

Canadian Solar 390 watt PV Pallet!
If you’re ready to go solar and want a great budget DIY panel, get a pallet of these. These have lower voltage than cheaper models and with tariffs coming you may not see this quality cheaper… ever.
