Produced by North American Aviation, this 1960s film FIREPOWER shows the annual Eglin Air Force Base air show, featuring WWI, WWII era and postKorean War jet aircraft. These include the supersonic North American F100 Super Sabre, which is featured. Mock air strikes are shown on various ranges to simulate railroad yards, depots, and military installations of varying types.

B52 bombers are seen at the 6:00 mark, and B47s make a massed flyby at the 7:15 mark. Rockets are fired and bombs dropped, and 20mm cannon strafing runs are made against a ground target (some kind of obsolete WWII era aircraft). Napalm is also seen begin employed at the 8:15 mark, with huge strands of bombs dropped on the range.

A simulated atomic bomb release is seen at the 9:50 mark, culminating in an air burst.

The Thunderbirds flying F100s are seen at the 10:30 mark.

Eglin Air Force Base (AFB) (IATA: VPS, ICAO: KVPS, FAA LID: VPS) is a United States Air Force base located approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) southwest of Valparaiso, Florida in Okaloosa County.

The host unit at Eglin is the 96th Test Wing (formerly the 96th Air Base Wing). The 96 TW is the test and evaluation center for Air Force airdelivered weapons, navigation and guidance systems, Command and Control systems, and Air Force Special Operations Command systems.

Eglin AFB was established in 1935 as the Valparaiso Bombing and Gunnery Base. It is named in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Frederick I. Eglin (1891–1937), who was killed in a crash of his Northrop A17 pursuit aircraft on a flight from Langley to Maxwell Field, Alabama.
