During the reign of Elizabeth I, Sir Walter Raleigh was at the height of his fame. The Queen admired the explorer for his bravery and good looks, despite his reckless behavior. Raleigh set sail for what he believed to be a "City of Gold" in South America. Raleigh then published an account of his journey in his book "El Dorado". But his reckless behavior eventually made him unpopular in court, and after three stints in the Tower of London's prison, he was beheaded.
