FAQ for Rammed Earth

Our mixture is 3 parts sand, 1 part gravel, 910% cement (1 bag for 10 cu/ft), and 16% color (15 lbs per bag of cement).
Please NOTE: this mixture works for the material in our location and may not work for other material in other parts of the world. If you want to get the strengths that we are getting I recommend working with SIREWALL (www.sirewall.com) to get a mix design done. They are an amazing company that has been super helpful through this process.
Our rammers and the admixture (SBA) come from SirewallUSA.
Our colors are Lambert Southwest concrete (or mortar) color Rustic Copper and Adobe Tan.
The mixer we are using is the Ettera BMX450 from skidsteersolutions.com. It is designed to mount on the front of a skid steer but we modified our telehandler to accept the tool.
Our solid foam insulation is 4 inch thick polyisocyanurate.
Our forms are made from 16 gauge steel studs and MDO (medium density overlay) boards.
