This talk is the 2nd part of the elementary potential flows, on the flows of a source/sink. This is a very important part for the building stones towards the general potential flow theory for fluidstructure interactions. Principally, the elementary potential flows are very simple but yet important although we can not see the importance yet.
Since all the elementary potential flows are linear, that means the velocity potential functions are proportional to the singularity strengths or the uniform incoming velocity, and understanding of the individual elementary potential flows and the mathematical expressions would be important for the potential flow theory.
This talk includes following contents:
The velocity potential function of a source
Some important features of a source flow
The expression of the potential function in a polar coordinate
understanding what is the source strength
stream function for the source flow
equipotential lines and streamlines for source flows
Introduction of the potential function of a 3D source flow
