KLM's 747400 will be retired by today, March 29, 2020 and the 747400M will be converted to 400F. The phase out of the 747 was originally scheduled for January 2021 but, due to the global outbreak of the coronavirus, KLM decided to retire them today. KLM was one of the first airlines to operate the classic 747 and was launch customer for the 400M in 1989. With the phaseout of the 747 in 2020 KLM looks back on 49 years of 747 operations. At the moment it is still unclear when the 747F will be retired.
