The Vectron brand electric locomotive is available as an allelectric and hybrid model. It has the tractive power of 23 trucks. The trains, which cost up to 4.5 million euros, are manufactured in Munich. By 2023, DB Cargo plans to use 400 electric locomotives in European cargo rail transport, saving up to eight million liters of diesel per year. The advantage: the locomotive is particularly environmentally friendly and can be modularly assembled and converted, enabling it to run seamlessly on all rail networks in Europe.
