Vowels in English are confusing! But there are some rules to help you know when a vowel says its long sound (alphabet name) or its short sound (related sound). Play along with the games in this great video!

Each of the 5 vowels has a "long sound", which is its alphabet name. Each also has a "short sound (a secondary or related sound) which is different. Listen to these 10 vowel sounds here: 0:25

1:46 Rule #1: One vowel rule (CVC) (ex. cap, hat)
