I worked with Northern Pacific Power to install the new Enphase IQ EV Charger on a grid tie PV with storage site to show the process as well explain some of the products requirements.

The Key take aways should be that when installing the IQ EV Charger, if you want to be able to utilize the excess solar that is available after supplying the homes loads and batteries if installed, Consumption CT's will need to be installed and will have to capture all the loads including the EV.

This IQ EV Charger is for charging only and is not BiDirectional, the batteries will be the only storage on site that will be able to support loads while the grid is present. This configuration is considered Grid Tied Storage and is the new method we are expecting to see in California for NEM 3.0 installations.
