When you write, write for your audience. Put your book out there before even publishing it. Rob Fitzpatrick and I had a wonderful deep dive conversation about his book called Write Useful Books as well as the Workshop Survival Guide. He explains his process of writing as a product. In order to write (build) a lasting product, it needs to go through several iterations. He is currently making over $25k per month just on a few of the books he has published and in this video, he explains his process so you can too.
That's why I loved chatting with Rob about his books and his processes as a writer. He makes the process seem doable because he has broken it down into easily processed chunks.
I highly recommend watching this video and checking out his books.
