Episode 10, Mounting the aileron servos

I am trying so hard to get these videos down to 10 minutes, but failing miserably. Sorry about this one being so long. I'll keep working on it.

A lot of time when you are building from plans, the designer will leave areas to your own discretion as to how to complete it. In this case the plan has “aileron servo bay” on the wing plan, and nothing else. Scratch builders tend to have many different opinions, or ways of setting up these things that they will do in their own way. If you look at the article the designer submitted with his plan, he used a two servo system. My flying Buddy Mark, used 4 servos and actually split the aileron in half and used the inside as flaps. Some modelers prefer to mount the servo in the center of the wing, and install a 90 degree bell crank in that bay to indirectly drive the aileron.
In my case, I will use 2 servos like the designer did, and install a mounting tray of my own design to accommodate. The servos are from a previous airplane and has the push rods from that application attached. I like to reuse custom made parts when I can… it’s my way of helping the environment… Okay not really, maybe I just hate throwing perfectly good parts out. Makes me kind of cry… That part and I have been through a lot together. Hope this video helps you.
