This tutorial demonstrates how to compute Spectral Profile for for Vegetation, Built Up and Water class in Landsat 8 using ERDAS Imagine.

Spectral signature is the reflectance as a function of wavelength, each material has a unique signature, therefore it can be used for material classification. The Spectral Profile Viewer allows you to visualize the reflectance spectrum of a single pixel through many bands.
