This episode of Lightning GIS will demonstrate two error reduction techniques in Agisoft Metashape. After aligning your photos in Agisoft Metashape you will have a “sparse point cloud” consisting of the tie points that Metashape identified between different photos. Using the structurefrommotion photogrammetry method, Metashape has estimated the threedimensional coordinates of each tie point in the sparse cloud. However, the SfM photogrammetry algorithm yields a lot of noisy or erroneous tie points that will decrease the quality of your final threedimensional model. This video will show you how to use the gradual selection tool in Metashape to filter out the noisy and erroneous tie points prior to generating your dense point cloud.
