Escape From Zion Narrows

Did the full 16 mile hike bottom down on August 19, 2012. This is a summary video of the wall street section of the hike. It started raining and hailing. Had to take shelter on a cliff. There were several big flash floods in the park. Luckily for us a big flash flood did not occur. The river rose maybe 12 feet. Conditions were sunny with no clouds in the sky when we began the hike at 8:30. Chance of rain was 30% and flash flood condition was moderate. It's extremely risky to hike in July and August. By the time you get to the wall street section, afternoon thunderstorms are very likely to occur. I'd only do this hike again if I camped and did it in 2 days or if the flash flood conditions were low. Bring lights. We were very close to having to stay the night. Also, bring warmer cloths in a dry bag. We didn't. I got very cold when the rain came and if we had to stay overnight there may have been a chance of hypothermia. Check out the link below in my video description. This flash flood happened the same day we were in the narrows and was not more than 10 miles away from us. We just got lucky that the rain wasn't falling north of us or this huge wall of water and debris would have been coming down the canyon.    • Flash Flood Beginning Near Virgin Uta...  Stay
