With all the amazing AI music generation solutions currently available and forthcoming (I’m looking at you, Elevenlabs…) there is more and more talk about the ethics behind AI music.

There are many legal questions being thrown around about the source of the training of some of these models, including voices and recordings of real music artists.

But at the end of the day, AI is a tool that can easily be used in ethical ways to create music in this case, a cover song.

In this video, we’re going to create the beginning of a cover of “Fly Me To the Moon.”

However, we are not using existing recordings, and we are not using a cloned voice without permission.

Instead, we will use BandInABox to generate a backing track based on chords it pulls from a MIDI file.

Then I’ll record my voice singing along with that track.

Then, we’ll use Kits.ai to convert my voice into an appropriate female voice, add backing vocals, a bit of harmony, and then put it all together in our multitrack audio editor.

Hopefully you’ll pick up some bits and pieces that will assist you in your music creation endeavors, utilizing AI to help bring your vision to life in an ethical way!
