Profile of the Ethnological Museum
The Ethnological Museum, which emerged from the Royal Art Chamber, has been one of the largest and most important of its kind internationally since its foundation in 1873.

Its collections include around 500,000 ethnographic, archaeological and culturalhistorical objects from Africa, Asia, America and Oceania. These are supplemented by around 500,000 media (ethnographic photographs, films, audio recordings) and around 200,000 pages of written documents. Many of its collections are among the most extensive and valuable anywhere.

Together with the Museum of Asian Art and other actors such as the Berlin City Museum and the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Ethnological Museum is presenting its collections in an innovative concept in the Humboldt Forum on Schlossplatz in BerlinMitte.
