Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 Jeep Compass we're here to take a look at, and I'm going to show you how to install, the Tekonsha TOne Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4Pole Flat Trailer Connectors, part number 118539. This is what our wiring looks like when it's installed. This is going to give us all our proper lighting functions to safely tow our trailer. It's going to give us our right turn signal, left turn signal, our brake lights, our running lights, and our ground. The nice thing about this wiring harness is it's going to have an attached dust cap. Because the hitch is up behind the fascia, it's hard to put any kind of bracket to hold our wiring in place, but because this dust cap is attached, you can double it as a holder when you're not using your wiring to help keep it from dragging the ground. What's more important about this is this box right here.

This is going to be the converter box. What this is going to do, this is going to keep any back feed from your trailer into your vehicle if there's a short with your wiring on your trailer, which means it's going to protect your factory wiring in your car. Another important thing about this is this red wire right here. This is connected to this black wire, which is run up to your battery, giving this box power, which means that everything that is connected to your taillights is only getting this signal. It's not drawing any power from them. Now, to connect these two wires, your kit is going to come with some butt connectors. However, they're not waterproof.

The ends are open, so you could get a little bit of moisture in there. What we're going to do is we're going to replace them with some heat shrink butt connectors, which you can find on our website using part number DW05745. To begin our installation, we're going to turn to our taillights. We're going to have two push pin fasteners we need to remove.I'm just going to use a flathead screwdriver. We're going to pop out this center, and then in the bottom also.

Do the same thing with this one. Then we're going to take our right and we're going to pull backwards, just like that. We have our plug here. We're going to push up on this tab. Then we're going to push down right back here on this black tab and pull out, and we're going to repeat this same process for our passenger side.Next thing we're going to do is we're going to take our wire for our passenger side, which is the green.

We're going to drop it right down behind our fascia. We're going to do the same with our 4pole, and it should come right out the bottom. Next we're going to take the end with the red wire on our driver's side and we're just going to match our plugs. Push it in, and make sure you push that red tab back in.Next we're going to take our black wire. We're going to hold one end. We're going to drop the rest of it down through the same hole or direction we did earlier wires. We're going to strip back the end of our black wire, and we're going to add our heat shrink butt connector. Clip it down, and we're going to take the other end, and we're going to add it to the red wire. We're going to take a heat source and we're going to shrink that butt connector. Now we're going to take our selftapping screw 1/4inch socket and we're going to install our ground wire. I'm going to put it right in here. Next thing we need to do is we need to mount our converter box. I'm going to mount it right on the inside of the bumper fascia here. It's a good idea to make sure the area is clean so that your doublesided tape holds good. We'll take some rubbing alcohol, clean off this spot real good. Make sure you press it into place. Now we can reinstall our taillight. Push 'til you hear a click. Again, make sure you push in the locking tab. Next thing I'm going to do is on my passenger side. It may go a little bit easier. If you've got a piece of wire, wire hanger, something stiff, airline tube, something like that. If you don't, if you take a piece of string, put a bolt or a nut on it, drop it down like that. Now we'll run our wire across, hook it onto that bolt, and we'll be able to pull it up.Now we're going to route our green wire over to our passenger side, and our 4pole wire over to the edge of our receiver tube. What we're going to do is we're going to take it and we're going to try to zip tie it to the backside of our hitch to make sure our wire is nice, tucked in up behind our fascia and hidden. So, I zip tied my wiring along my hitch. Because my muffler is right here, I went ahead and tucked it up behind it so it's protected from heat.Over here on my passenger side, I actually took my wiring
