Spotting on the west runway on a beautiful, clear evening with great sunset lighting. This is generally a pretty quiet time of day, but you can see some unique traffic that you don’t get to see at other times during the day, in particular some turboprop cargo planes operating feeder flights from small towns in the region.

The other notable sight you can sometimes see is the evening arrival of a KLM 7879. This month, KLM began operating their 3x weekly summer seasonal flight from Amsterdam for the first time since 2019, after being suspended for two years due to the pandemic. This was actually what I came to see that night, but it just so happened to be one of the very rare occasions where a transatlantic flight approaches from the south because it took a lessnortherly route than usual. When landing to the north, aircraft approaching from the south almost always land on the other side of the airfield, so I chose the wrong runway to film from that night. I did get a quick clip of it taxiing in after landing, though, just to prove I did see it!
