Located 135km (84 miles) east of Lisbon, in the region of Alentejo, Évora is an ancient city (probably Portugal's oldest) that should be on everyone's radar. Due to its wellpreserved old town center, still enclosed by medieval walls, and many monuments dating from various historical periods, including a Roman Temple, the medieval Évora Cathedral and the Chapel of Bones, Évora is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
