Dr. Will Rodman hopes to cure his ailing father and experiments on primates for a drug that will allow the brain to repair itself. He inadvertently creates a hyperintelligent chimpanzee who he raises and calls Caesar. The little chimp soon grows too smart, and when Caesar becomes aware of his kind's place in human society, he transforms into a threat to all humankind.
