This was fun! 2 houses, church, toll booths from the Meritt Parkway, cemetery, lighthouse, windmill etc.. all on 32 haunted acres of what is now a public park in Stratford Connecticut.
Some of the buildings are on the National Register Of Historic Places.
David & Steven Boothe created the Boothe Memorial Museum in 1914 which consists of all the buildings.
Their original homestead which is the second house was built in 1663 but was replaced with a new house on the same foundation in 1840.
The Astronomical Observatory was built in 1957
The Chapel was built in 1844 and moved to the grounds in 1968
The wooden log architecture toll booth was acquired after the State stopped using toll booths in 1988. It was one of the last to be removed. It was originally located on the Milford side of the Igor I. Sikorski Memorial Bridge at the end of the Meritt Parkway.
There are enclosed buildings that have things such as Civil War artifacts, a vintage truck and gas pump and miniature replicas of some early Presidents houses.
They say the Boothe brothers were very spiritual and may have built shrines within the houses. The original homestead had four wall safes.
There is a place outside that has an alter or podium looking out over a circle of 25 stone stools. It looks very ritualistic to me.
I also went to the nearby cemetery where the Boothe family plot is located.
The Boothe brothers are there, close to the property they loved.
I did hear a bang / knock inside the building that is the Train Museum which is also nearest to the cemetery.
I'm not sure it was paranormal but knocks bangs voices and noises are what people report.
There was also a lot of wind aircraft & car noise as well sorry about that.
There are picnic areas where you can also cook on the grill. It's a nice park and I highly recommend the visit haunted or not.
Open from sunrise to sunset and free.
Inside tours are available on Memorial Day & Labor Day.
I believe the inside tours are also free. I would Google it.
The address to visit is:
Boothe Memorial Park
5774 Main Street
Stratford, CT
