In this episode, we’re exploring the old Buffalo State Hospital. Originally called the Buffalo State Asylum for the Insane, it started construction in 1870 and took almost 20 years to complete. The complex was a stateoftheart facility, incorporating some of the most modern ideas in psychiatric treatment and served as an icon of the advancements of mental health in New York.
