With my buddies we hike through knee deep snow through a foggy winter forest. We carry old military canvas gear and find a good camp site. Using 6 Bundeswehr Zeltbahn canvas tent halves we build a large shelter with an external frame made of spruce. We dig a Dakota fire pit and connect it to an air intake tunnel which draws fresh, cold air from outside directly into the fire. With this technique no cold air is drawn into the shelter, replenishing the air needed for combustion.

Sören has a large, fresh salmon (4kg, 8 pounds) that he prepares. We cook it over many hours over the flames and eat it in the snow.

The next morning we get up, gather fire wood and open one side of the shelter. We make a fire and cook warm soup. We break camp, clear the site and walk back through the deep snow.
