Many teeth that need to be extracted are in tough shape and often present with a degree of inflammation or infection associated with them. In these cases, one approach is to use blocks and supplement them with PDL infiltrations on the line angles of the tooth in question.

This technique is quick to employ and I routinely use it prior to any extraction that I feel could fall into the aforementioned category. Hope this helps!
