After a long and beautiful summer which has treated us to long spells of warm, clear weather, the classic Manchester weather has now returned; RAIN!! Rain is no stranger to Manchester however it does offer the opportunity to capture some fantastic spray shots of aircraft departing and arriving. Seen here are aircraft departing on a wet morning in early September, filmed from 09:30 till 11:30. This time period is one of the busiest at Manchester, especially for heavy departures.

The mix of traffic and an extremely wet runway meant that there was no shortage of spray being thrown up as aircraft spooled up began their takeoff roles. The morning consisted of many heavy showers which not only soaked the runway but us aswell! Seen here is a mix of traffic including A380, 747, A330's, 787's, A350, 767 along with a mix of narrowbody aircraft including the A319, A320 and 737.
