What we Covered

PM? PgM? TPM?
Which is which, and which role is right for you?

Whether you are in one of these roles or trying to get into one, this video will go over:
the high level details of each role
what their goals are
how their daily activities look and differ.

Then, you can understand the differences and determine which is best for you.

Product Manager (PM in Tech, PM is NOT project manager, it's Product Manager!)
CEO of the product
Focused on: WHAT we're building (strategy, product definition)
Thinks about: what users need
+ Daily: Data, Strategy, PRDs, check on feature development, crossfunctional coordination (with other dependent teams, UX, users, privacy, legal, etc)

Technical Program Manager (TPM) and Program Manager (PgM)
COO of the product
Focused on: HOW we're building it (includes delivery + process)
Thinks about: strategic execution
‍ Works most closely with engineering teams, crossfunctional stakeholders.

Project Managers
Tactical "get things done"
Thinks about: schedule, budget, objectives
Focused on: WHEN it's going to be done (delivery focused)

Note: Project Managers are uncommon at FAANG because you get more bang for your buck hiring program managers who can handle both execution (projects) and strategic efforts (programs).
