Morality, Recession, and Faust . . . oh my!! Dust off your dancing shoes and polish your sax—it's our first musical episode!

Now that Dilfred McCracken is dead, his son Fred takes up hosting duties after making a deal with a suspiciously Devillike character named Elvid. And wouldn't you know it, the third novella ("FAIR EXTENSION") in Stephen King's 2010 collection FULL DARK, NO STARS is also a Deal with the Devil story.

Fred takes us through the history of Deal with the Devil stories, beginning with the story of Faust, and brings us all the way to the present, where Deal with the Devil stories are alive and well in our popular culture in shows like BREAKING BAD and THE SIMPSONS. 

He also examines the Recession of 2008, which was when King wrote the novellas in FULL DARK, NO STARS and which heavily informed the themes of class and economic inequality in "FAIR EXTENSION."

Oh and did we mention THIS IS A MUSICAL EPISODE???
