On Saturday, September 18, 2021, Family Guy aired on Cartoon Network's latenight adult block, Adult Swim, for the final time. After 18 years, 19,800+ airings, 15 seasons, 289 episodes, millions of weekly viewers, and dozens of bumpers, Family Guy has concluded its run on Adult Swim.

It will instead be aired on FXX and Freeform as a result of Disney now owning Family Guy. The last Family Guy episode to air on Adult Swim is "Stewie is Enciente" which is, unfortunately, the episode where Stewie gets pregnant. A very weird choice for a final episode to air on Adult Swim, but what they did AFTER the final broadcast is beyond bittersweet.

After the credits rolled, Adult Swim showed a bumper of various Adult Swim characters waving goodbye to the Griffins (including a heartbreaking closeup shot of Peter with tears in his eyes at the beginning) with a message simply saying "Byebye". It was clear that Adult Swim was aware that Family Guy would no longer air on their network so they decided to do something to bid farewell to their staple. It showed that they cared.

In fact, it was because of Adult Swim airing reruns of Family Guy that helped resurrect the series after its initial cancellation and thanks to Adult Swim boosting the show's popularity, Family Guy is still on the air and making new episodes to this day (whether we like it or not). Though FOX is usually the first to present us new episodes of the show, Family Guy was an absolute staple in Adult Swim's history and it helped bring Adult Swim to where it is today, and viceversa.

And on a personal level, it was because of Adult Swim that I first got exposed to Family Guy in the first place so if it wasn't for the network airing Family Guy continuously, I wouldn't know what the show was.

The fact that (thanks to Disney _) Family Guy is no longer gonna air on Adult Swim is heartbreaking, to say the least. And it's hard to believe we now live in an era where there is a Family Guyless Adult Swim. But the memories will last a lifetime and the show will always be part of Adult Swim's history, and it will be irreplaceable.
