On this beautiful morning, we had clear skies during most of our descent and approach. After turning to the final approach course, we flew through a thin cloud layer, which restricted our view to the coastline and the city of Faro for a short while.

During the approach, we had a great view of the city of Tavira, the Gilao river, Praia da Ilha de Tavira beach, Santa Luzia, the city of Faro, Faro marina and several salt farms.

Runway 28 is the main runway of Faro Algarve Airport. For several years, it only had a non precision approach with high minimums. So the airport was not useable during mornings with sea fog or other low clouds. Now the airport installed a modern ILS (instrument landing system) which makes approaches also possible during low clouds and restricted visibility.
