The bowline knot is an easy to tie, strong versatile knot to create a loop in a rope. It is one of the fundamental knots every Boy Scout learns. In this video, we demonstrate three ways to tie the Bowline Knot, fast and easy. We review the basic parts of a rope including the running end, the standing part, and overhand loop. We show the traditional method using the mnemonic of the rabbit coming out of the hole, around the tree and back down the hole. We then progress to a method that mimics the mechanics of a onehanded bowline. Finally, we tie the fastest method that combines the overhand loop with the initial step of the Marlin Spike Hitch.
