Fein MultiMaster Multitool Repair - a nice easy job

Chas Large

A very good friend asked if I could look at his Fein MultiMaster power tool that was not working correctly. The mains lead connection is intermittent. He had taped it to a position on the device where it would work 90% of the time.
I tested the unit and it was indeed traced to a faulty mains lead. Disassembly was simple, just 6 Torx screws and the lead was connected via pushin connectors. Removing it and checking the lead for continuity showed the lead was broken. I pulled the broken neutral core out which showed where it was proken. Trimming it, cutting back the insulation and tinning the wires enabled me to push them back into the connector. Reassembly after cleaning and testing proved the device was fixed OK.
