Date filmed: Tuesday the 14th of May 2024
Videos filmed at: 14:35 | 14:52

Route: East Coast Main Line (ECML)
Between Widdrington (WDD) and Acklington (ACK) Stations

Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with CCTV (MCBCCTV)

Filming location: Widdrington, Morpeth (NE61 3BA)

A fullbarrier level crossing located on a quiet unnamed road near the village of Widdrington, Northumberland. This crossing has fairly new barriers, is controlled and monitored from Morpeth, and has very loud alarms for such a quiet location. One of these produces an unusually screechy and highpitched tone. A pair of uncut lowerings are featured in this video, one for a southbound Azuma, another for a northbound Cross Country Voyager, and you can just about catch a glimpse of another nearby level crossing as I zoomed in for the Azuma Chevington Level Crossing. The line curves quite significantly just south of the crossing, but you can see a very long way down looking north even further during a clearer day. All four barriers at this level crossing looked pretty new at the time of filming, and unlike before they all have skirts.
