Fetal Biophysical Profile Imaging Study Lecture

In 1980, Manning and his colleagues developed biophysical profile scoring to assess fetal well being. They fashioned a method for fetal surveillance in highrisk pregnancies that combine fetal heart rate monitoring
with various ultrasound derived variables. Their technique was later modified by various scientists to make it easier & timeconsuming.
Five biophysical parameters are assessed individually and in combinations.
Each of the five categories represents a separate mini evaluation of fetal behaviour or function. These are a combination of acute and chronic markers.
